It is important to consider both the ambient and media temperature conditions of an application when selecting a sensor for pressure measurement. These temperatures have a direct effect on the accuracy of the pressure transducer. However, most of our pressure transducers are compensated over a specified pressure and temperature to help minimize the effects of temperature.
Pressure Measurement: Cooling Adapter for High Temperature Medias, Heat Exchanger for Low Temperature Media
For applications where the temperature is outside of the transducers specified temperature range, we offer an all 316L SS cooling adapter. This adapter isolates the transducer by increasing the distance from the extreme media temperatures. The temperature of the media dissipates as it passes through the cooling adapter. This installation method is effective when dealing with extremely cold medias. The cooling adapter acts as a heat exchanger.
Standard 1/4″ NPT male and female connections allow for quick threaded installation in a modular design. Because of this design, the cooling adaptor can quickly be added or removed without additional hardware or equipment. While factors such as ambient temperature, media temperature, and airflow need consideration, temperature drops of 250˚F are possible. In addition, the max pressure measurement rating of the adaptor is 10,000 PSI and it weighs approximately 8 ounces.
Modular, Multi-use Cooling Adaptor / Heat Exchanger
For applications with extreme media temperatures that exceed the rating of the pressure transducer, we offer an all 316L SS pressure measurement cooling adaptor. The cooling adaptor will reduce the media temperature before it makes contact with our pressure transducers, from Core Sensors. Standard 1/4″ NPT male and female connections allow for quick threaded installation.
While factors such as ambient temperature, media temperature, and airflow need consideration, temperature drops of 250˚F (121˚C) are possible. Multiple cooling adapters can thread together to increase cooling potential. This cooling adapter can also function as a heat exchanger for cold medias compatible with 316L SS.
