DEHNpatch Class D, Current Arrester

The DEHNpatch Class D is a universal, space-saving lightning current arrester of 19 mm in width and RJ45 connection system for lightning equipotential bonding. Protection of applications in structured cabling according to class S to 100 MHz; e.g. industrial Ethernet, data distributors, digital camera systems, Power over Ethernet (IEEE 802.3 compliant to 4PPoE) and Ethernet-based interfaces in general. Protection of all pairs through powerful gas discharge tubes. Fully shielded adapter design with RJ45 sockets for DIN rail mounting. With additional screw connection on the enclosure for an optional earth connection.

  • Ideal for protecting Ethernet applications up to 1 GBit/s
  • For use in structured cabling systems according to class D up to 100 MHz
  • Power over Ethernet IEEE 802.3 compliant (up to PoE++ / 4PPoE)
  • For installation in conformity with the lightning protection zone concept at the boundaries from 0A – 2

Description

The DEHNpatch DPA C8 D 4PPOE is a compact current arrester built for today’s high‑speed Ethernet and PoE (Power over Ethernet) networks. Designed for structured cabling systems rated Class D up to 100 MHz, this current arrester, from DEHN, suits Industrial Ethernet, surveillance, as well as data‑distribution environments. The fully shielded adapter features RJ45 in/out ports and mounts neatly on a DIN rail, making installation straightforward and space‑efficient.

  • Universal RJ45 adapter for all four pairs, supports 4PPoE and high‑speed links
  • Class D specification (up to 100 MHz) ensures compatibility with PoE‑enabled networks in industrial environments
  • Fully shielded housing plus DIN‑rail mounting for clean installation in control‑cabinets or telecom racks
  • Robust surge‑handling: 10 kA total (8/20 µs), 0.5 kA lightning impulse per pair (10/350 µs) — ready for severe conditions
  • Suitable for lightning‑protection zone concept (interfaces from 0A-2) and accommodates optional earthing

With support for IEEE 802.3 compliant PoE through 4PPoE, this current arrester safeguards all four twisted‑pairs with powerful gas‑discharge tubes. You’ll gain protection against lightning and surge events while maintaining network integrity. Because it complies with EN/IEC 61643‑21 and handles significant discharge currents (for example, 10 kA total for 8/20 µs) it meets the demands of zone‑based lightning protection setups. This device’s narrow 19 mm width leaves space‑for‑growth in patch‑panels or switch racks.

DEHNpatch Class D Lightning Current Arrester

The DEHNpatch DPA C8 D 4PPOE current arrester is ideal for a wide range of Ethernet and PoE applications. It protects PoE-powered devices such as IP cameras, wireless access points, and smart sensors. In industrial settings, it safeguards Ethernet control lines in PLC systems and also machine networks. Additionally, this surge protector fits perfectly in commercial building automation systems. You can install it in patch panels, switch racks, or control cabinets with limited space.

Security systems also benefit from its surge protection. Video surveillance networks often run long Ethernet cables that are vulnerable to surges. The DPA C8 D 4PPOE helps ensure continuous operation and signal stability. In campuses or enterprise environments, it supports structured cabling systems where uptime matters. Furthermore, retrofitting is simple thanks to its DIN-rail mount and RJ45 compatibility.

For any environment exposed to transient voltages or lightning-prone areas, this device adds essential protection. Ultimately, it reduces downtime, prevents equipment damage, and supports long-term network reliability.

  • Industrial control networks using PoE‑powered devices such as vision sensors as well as wireless access points
  • Surveillance and security systems where RJ45 cable links demand reliable protection
  • Data‑distributors and patch‑panels in commercial buildings, campus networks, and also smart‑buildings
  • Structured cabling retrofits where floor‑space is limited and surge protection must integrate cleanly
  • Ethernet installations next to lightning‑protection zones or exposed to transient events
