The CS-SM Steel Mill Pressure Transducer is designed to withstand the rugged demands of the steel mill industry. For durability, it offers a stainless steel body that’s welded to a high strength stainless steel sensing element. The CS-SM offers 4X overpressure protection, integral snubber to protect against pressure transients, and an IP69 rating. It offers a variety of output signals and process connections and either an integral cable or a 6-Pin Bayonet connector for electrical connections.

Description

The CS-SM Steel Mill Pressure Transducer is able to withstand the rugged demands of the steel mill industry. It’s ideal for use in stamping, roll forming, rolling mill, and pumps. Standard configuration includes a stainless steel body welded to a high strength stainless steel sensing element. This pressure sensor offers 4X overpressure protection, integral snubber to protect against pressure transients, and an IP69 rating. Electrical connections include integral cable or a 6-Pin Bayonet connector with a variety of output signals and process connections.

  1. Snubber: A integral snubber (or restrictor plug) is standard on the CS-SM. It dampens pressure spikes that are common in steel and rolling mill applications. Even with the addition of the snubber, the CS-SM is still capable of responding to pressure quickly. It offers ~1 kHz for voltage outputs and ~250 Hz for 4-20 mA current output.
  2. Overpressure Protection: By carefully selecting the appropriate diaphragm thickness, the CS-SM, from Core Sensors, is capable of achieving 4X overpressure protection and 10X (or 20,000 PSI) burst pressure protection. These protections are critical in applications such as stamping and roll forming. This is due to the fact that sudden pressure events can easily exceed the intended application pressure. Transducers without high overpressure and burst pressure protection run the risk of permanent damage. In addition, they can potentially damage other equipment if the pressure cannot maintain proper monitoring and control.
  3. IP69 Rating: A 6-Pin Bayonet electrical connector is precision TIG welded onto the sensors body. This provides an IP69 rating. In addition, it ensures the sensor will continue operating even during high pressure washdown events.
