Description

The PR 9202A Pulse Isolator is a high‑performance interface module. It’s ideal for use with NAMUR sensors and mechanical switches, providing galvanic isolation, robust error monitoring, and suitability for safety‑critical environments. It can function as a single‑channel or dual‑channel unit. Furthermore, it can mount on a power rail (PR 9400) or install separately.

  • Interface for NAMUR sensors as well as switches
  • Extended self-diagnostics in addition to detection of cable fault
  • 1 or 2 channels
  • Can be supplied separately or installed on power rail, PR type 9400
  • SIL 2-certified via Full Assessment

Offering both safety and durability, the 9202A, from PR electronics, includes extensive self‑diagnostics (including cable‑break detection) as well as selectable logic (direct or inverted) per channel. In addition, it provides visual indicators via LEDs that signal operational status or malfunctions. The PR 9202A delivers reinforced isolation of 2.6 kVAC between input, output, and supply. Its outputs include relay as well as NPN transistor options. The 9202A is certified SIL 2 via full assessment under IEC 61508 and meets requirements up to Performance Level d under ISO‑13849.

  • Configuration and monitoring by way of detachable display front (PR 45xx).
  • Selection of direct or inverted function for each channel via PR 45xx.
  • Advanced monitoring of internal communication and stored data.
  • Optional redundant supply via power rail and/ or separate supply.
  • SIL 2 functionality is optional and must be activated in a menu point.

Applications of the PR 9202A Pulse Isolator

The PR 9202A is suitable for a wide variety of industrial automation environments as well as process control systems. It’s also suitable for hazard zones (Zone 2 / Class 1, Division 2) or marine applications where switching or pulse signals require safe isolation. It is especially useful for connecting field sensors (for example, NAMUR proximity sensors or mechanical limit switches) to control logic without risking ground loops or electrical faults. Its diagnostics and fault reporting capabilities make it ideal for preventive maintenance. Thus, the 9202A ensures system integrity in chemical plants, oil & gas installations, water treatment, and heavy manufacturing.

  • 9202A can mount in the safe area and in zone 2 / Class 1, Division 2, Group A, B, C, D.
  • Pulse isolator for transmission of signals from NAMUR sensors and mechanical switches.
  • Monitoring of error events and cable breakage via the individual status relay. Collective electronic signal via the power rail.
  • The 9202A has been designed, developed, and certified for use in SIL 2 applications according to the requirements of IEC 61508.
  • Suitable for the use in systems up to Performance Level “d” according to ISO-13849.

Technical Characteristics

  • 1 green and 2 yellow/red front LEDs indicate operation status as well as malfunction.
  • 2.6 kVAC galvanic isolation between input, output, and also supply.

Mounting

  • The devices can mount vertically or horizontally without distance between neighboring units.
