- 1:1 signal repeater with dual output for DCS/PLC redundancy
- Full HART transparency with <5 ms response and high accuracy
Description
The PR 9106A HART Transparent Repeater ensures reliable as well as bidirectional HART & BRAIN protocol communication between field transmitters and control systems. It operates as an isolated 1:1 repeater with supply via 24 VDC power rail or connector terminals. It also supports both active and passive mA inputs and outputs, enabling versatile integration.
- 24 VDC supply via power rail or connectors.
- Active and passive mA input.
- Active or passive output via the same two terminals.
- Splitter function – 1 in and 2 out.
- SIL2 / SIL3 Full Assessment and also certified according to IEC 61508.
Furthermore, the PR 9106A, from PR electronics, functions as a splitter: it takes one input signal and sends two output signals simultaneously.
- Splitting field signals so two separate DCS/PLC/HMI systems receive the same input data.
- Migrating legacy control systems without disrupting existing outputs while adding new channels.
- Deploying in hazardous zones (Zone 2 / Class I, Div 2) for safety loops or redundant monitoring.
- Using within safety instrumented systems to supply diagnostic feedback alongside primary safety channel.
PR 9106A HART Transparent Repeater
The PR 9106A maintains high galvanic isolation at 2.6 kVAC between input, output, as well as supply sections. It delivers fast response times under 5 ms in addition to accuracy better than 0.1 % across its selected range. It includes features such as status LEDs, input cable‑break detection, status relay output, and electronic collective error signaling. The 9106A holds SIL 2 / SIL 3 certification under IEC 61508 for safety‑critical loops and meets Performance Level “d” under ISO‑13849.
- 9106A is a 1- or 2-channel isolated 1:1 repeater.
- The device supplies 2-wire SMART transmitters and can also be of use for 2-wire SMART current sources. It supports and bi-directionally transfers HART & BRAIN protocols.
- The PR 9106A can mount in the safe area or in zone 2 / Class I, Division 2, Groups A, B, C, D.
- For duplication / migration purposes, the outputs can send to two different DCS / PLC / HMI or any monitoring system.
- In safety applications (SIL loops), the 9106AxBx can function as a splitter with the following output configuration:
- When using 9106AxBx in a SIL2 safety function, channel 1 is for the safety loop. Channel 2 can function for any non-safety device.
- For higher safety purposes (SIL 3), 9106AxBx can function as a splitter for SIL 3 loops. Channel 1 and 2 then connect to the same safety PLC, where channel 2 is in use as a redundant diagnostic channel (for more information, consult the FMEDA Report and the Safety Manual).
Advanced Features
- The optional detachable display 45xx and the green and red front LEDs indicate operation status for each channel.
- Monitoring of error events and cable breakage on input via the individual status relay and/or a collective electronic signal via the power rail.
- Suitable for the use in systems up to Performance Level “d” according to ISO-13849.
