Current Technology, CurrentGuard 3
The CurrentGuard 3 and Current Guard 3 Plus are designed to protect against utility power anomalies and lightning-induced transient surge events. The Current Guard 3 and CG3 Plus (CGP3) are high-performance surge protective devices engineered to safeguard equipment from utility power anomalies and lightning-induced transients. Utilizing thermally protected MOVs, they clamp surges near nominal voltage and vent them safely away from connected systems. Compact and robust, these devices feature multi-mode protection, remote status reporting, audible and visual alarms, and flexible mounting options—making them ideal for industrial, energy, and critical infrastructure environments.
- Thermally protected MOVs mitigate overvoltage while enhancing safety by taking the SPD offline under extreme conditions
- Multi-mode surge protection (L-N, L-G, N-G, L-L) with ratings between 50 kA and 200 kA per mode, plus a 200 kAIC SCCR
- Comprehensive monitoring and alerts: tri-color LEDs, dry relay contacts, audible alarm with silence button, and built-in surge counter on CGP3
- Rugged, space-efficient construction: Available in polycarbonate, powder-coated steel, or stainless steel enclosures; surface or flush mountable, with optional conduit terminations
- High-level safety and compliance: UL 1449 (5th Edition) for Type 1/2 applications, UL 1283 & 96A, IEEE C62.41/45, and RoHS-compliant certifications

Description
The powerful CurrentGuard 3 and Current Guard 3 Plus from Current Technology are now available through DEHN. These surge protection devices help protect against utility power anomalies and lightning-induced transient surge events. Their compact and advanced design features thermally protected MOVs to eliminate overvoltage, safeguarding your equipment and capital investments.
- Safeguard your capital investments: Help reduce operational downtime and maintenance costs.
- Absolute protection: Protect sensitive equipment from failure by clamping transient voltage events as close as possible to nominal and redirecting them safely away from connected equipment.
- Enhanced safety: Thermal protection adds an additional level of protection by taking the SPD offline when reaching a certain temperature.
Current Technology Surge Protection Devices
The Current Guard products feature a 200kAIC short circuit rating, a maximum surge current rating of 50 kA to 200kA per mode, and a nominal discharge current rating (I-n) of 20kA. They operate within a frequency range of 47–63Hz and connect parallel to the electrical distribution system. They provide protection in all modes (L-N, L-G, N-G, L-L) and are classified as Type 1 SPD with a fault current rating (SCCR) of 200kAIC.
These products are UL Listed to the 1449 5th edition for Type 1 and Type 2 SPD applications, meet the requirements for UL 96A, and are also UL 1283 listed for Type 2 applications. They comply with IEEE C62.41.1, .2, C62.45 and are ROHs compliant.
