The WATERFLUX 3070 is an electromagnetic water meter (magmeter) for water and wastewater applications such as district metering of potable water and custody transfer (CT) measurement. This magmeter can rely entirely on battery power or it can use mains power with battery backup as an option. Best of all, no straight inlet or outlet lengths are required, so it can install in nearly any location.
The WATERFLUX 3070 is a battery powered magmeter, or electromagnetic water meter, for use in water and wastewater applications such as in water abstraction wells, district metering areas (DMA), and custody transfer measurement of potable water (MI-001, OIML R49). With optional pressure and temperature sensors, this magmeter can also be of use in leak detection, quality control, and pressure management systems.
Unlike mechanical water meters, the WATERFLUX 3070, from KROHNE, is maintenance-free and offers a much larger turn down ratio (1000:1). Its measuring tube, with a rectangular and reduced cross-section, enables a stable measurement even at low flow rates. Due to the optimization of the flow profile, the WATERFLUX 3070 can install virtually anywhere without straight inlet or outlet runs. For example, it functions behind pipe bends, slide valves, or near a reduction in the pipe. Furthermore, burial installation options or use in areas that frequently flood is available.
This magmeter is available for battery-powered operation with integrated batteries or optional external battery pack (PowerBlock). However, the WATERFLUX 3070 offers multiple power supply options. For locations with mains power supply, an optional FlexPower unit is available to connect the battery powered magmeter to a 110-230V AC or 10-30V DC power source on site. For example, it can receive power from an electrical grid, a solar panel, or a small windmill.
When a permanent transmission of multi-parameter measurement readings, such as flow, pressure, or temperature is desirable, Modbus RTU communication is available as a simple interface. For remote or difficult to access measurement points, such as abstraction wells, the water meter can use a GPRS or 3G module for remote transmission of readings. Furthermore, the OPTICHECK service tool can provide a full on-site verification of the WATERFLUX 3070 without process interruption.

The strengths of the WATERFLUX 3000 Series lies in its unique construction with a rectangular cross section and its efficient coil construction. The coils provide a stronger and more homogeneous magnetic field, leading signal to noise ratio improvements. The measurement, therefore, is independent of the flow profile, so measurements are very stable. This results in a very good low flow performance with a minimal pressure drop and a minimal impact on the pressure strategy of the network.
Because of the unique WATERFLUX 3000 flow sensor design, whereby the mean flow velocity and flow profile are optimized within the rectangular and reduced cross-section, the additional uncertainty for upstream disturbances is drastically reduced. The water meter can install directly behind an elbow or reducer in the pipe without a straight inlet or outlet lengths. A substantial reduction of the inlet and outlet section requirements offers the option to reduce the size of the measurement pits.
The Rilsan coating of the flow sensor is chemically resistant, durable, and maintenance-free. In addition, the coating is flexible and tough, smooth and pore-free, and free of solvents. The coating is in wide use in the water industry and offers a wide range of drinking water certifications.
