OPTISOUND 3010 Ultrasonic Level Transmitter

OPTISOUND 3010 Ultrasonic Level Transmitter

The OPTISOUND 3010 is an ultrasonic level transmitter for the continuous level measurement of liquids such as rainwater and wastewater as well as bulk solids in the municipal and wastewater industry.

  • continuous, non-contact level measurement of liquids and solids
  • measuring range for liquids: 0.82 to 16.4 feet (.25 to 5 meters)
  • measuring range for solids:  0.82 to 6.6 feet (0.25 to 2 meters)
  • -40 to 176˚F (-40 to 80˚C); -0.2 to 2 barg (-2.9 to 29 psig)

Description

The OPTISOUND 3010 is a 2-wire or 4-wire ultrasonic level transmitter for municipal water and wastewater up to 16.4 feet (5 meters). It is ideal for the continuous level measurement of liquids such as rainwater and wastewater as well as bulk solids in the municipal and wastewater industry. The OPTISOUND 3010 level transmitter, from KROHNE, is particularly suitable for use in small tanks or in open channels for flow measurement.

Features of the OPTISOUND 3010 Ultrasonic Level Transmitter*

  • continuous, non-contact level measurement
  • maintenance free operation
  • measures independent of varying medium characteristics
  • suitable for profile measurement on conveyor belts
  • suitable for use in corrosive environments
  • also available with optional mounting bracket for easy alignment of the sensor

How Ultrasonic Transmitters Work

KROHNE-optisound-3010-Ultrasonic-Level-Transmitter-PSC-TexasThe transducer emits short ultrasonic pulses in the range of 35 kHz to 70 kHz towards the product surface. There, they reflect and then are received by the transducer. The pulses travel at the speed of sound. So, the time elapse from emission to reception of the signals depends on the level in the vessel.

The latest microcomputer technology and the proven processing software select the level echo from among any number of false echoes and also calculate the exact distance to the product surface. An integrated temperature sensor detects the temperature in the vessel and compensates for the influence of temperature on the signal running time. By simply entering the vessel dimensions, a level-proportional signal generates from the distance. Thus, it is not necessary to fill the vessel for adjustment.

Common Uses of Ultrasonic Level Transmitters

  • open basins, channels, sumps, and sludge containers
  • municipal water and wastewater basins
  • open channels for flow measurement
  • profile measurement on conveyor belts
  • small silos and storage tanks for solids
  • small storage tanks with slightly corrosive acids
  • applications with hazardous areas as well as SIL requirements
  • level measurement during processing and storage of liquids
