The NIVOSWITCH for solids is a level switch that uses a non-parallel vibrating fork. This level switch is ideal for level measurement of powder or granular solids. It’s commonly mounted on tanks, silos, pipes, and hopper bins where it’s able to sense the level and be used to control filling and emptying tasks. The NIVOSWITCH, from NIVELCO, offers fail-safe alarms in critical processes, which provides protection from dry runs or overfill, thus saving costs associated with down-time and repairs. A version of the NIVOSWITCH is also available that’s suitable for use with liquids: NIVOSWITCH for Liquids.
The NIVOSWITCH level switch for solids features a non-parallel vibrating fork and is suitable for level detection of granular or powder solids. With mounting on pipes, silos, tanks, or hopper bins for filling and emptying, these level switches, from NIVELCO, can generate fail-safe alarms, providing overfill and dry run protection. It uses an electronic circuit that excites the fork probe, making it vibrate. As the medium reaches and covers the fork its vibration changes or stops. The fork will start vibrating freely again as the medium sets it free. The electronics sense the change of vibration and gives output signal after a selected delay.
A version with plastic coating is ideal in aggressive mediums, and a high polish version is best for use with abrasive mediums. The PNP/NPN transistor output versions can connect directly to a PLC, or relay unit. NIVOSWITCH vibrating forks are able to solve switching tasks of high current loads with the help of UNICONT PKK switching amplifiers. The UNICONT PKK-312-8 Ex intrinsically safe switching unit is designed to serve Ex rated vibrating forks.
