- Placement:
- on horizontal pipes or upward flow
- upstream if near a valve
- downstream if near a pump
- suction side of pump only if there’s no cavitation
- ≥30˚ angle from top or bottom of pipe
- Pipe Filling:
- fully-filled pipes are advised including placement at the highest point or downward flow
- if fully-filled pipes cannot be guaranteed, ascending or vertical placement is advised
- Straight Run Requirements:
- typical: 10 x pipe diameter inlet and 5 x pipe diameter outlet
- 20 x pipe diameter after a T-piece or a double-bend in the same plane (2-dimensions)
- 25 x pipe diameter after a double-bend in a different plane (3-dimensions)
- If pipes are cement lined, the system needs to have had 5+ years of continuous operation for clamp-on flow meters to read flow rates
